District News
Congratulations to the entire District and Unit volunteers for helping Amistad District achieve Centennial Quality District 2007. Amistad was the only District to achieve the recognition; this could not be possible without the high caliber of volunteers in our District.
HIGHLIGHTS
Amistad District achieved the $48,000 goal by June 30, 2007, a total of $54,835 pledges by end of 2007 (FOS collection of 96%).

Amistad District ended the year with an increase in Units, an increase of 9.7% in membership for a total of 907 youth members.

Amistad District met the standards and increased categories, Centennial Quality Units, new units, membership growth, youth retention, Friends of Scouting, Unit retention, number of Unit Commissioners and recruited 10 new District Committee members.

May 1st will be the last Roundtable before the Summer vacation. Amistad District will suspend Roundtable and District meetings until August 2008. We will have Round Table and District Meetings again in August.

The May 1st Round table will be our Program Preview. The Round Table will be a picnic at Buena Vista Park Pavilion.

New for calendar. The Amistad District will have the Program Preview on May 1 in Del Rio at Buena Vista Park Pavilion at 7 pm. May 15th the Program Preview will be at the First United Methodist Church in Uvalde at 301 N. High St. at 7 pm.

Training: Saturday, May 3, 2008 Boy Scout Leader Training at San Pedro Flats at Amistad National Park starts Friday at 6 PM and ends Saturday at 5 PM. Outdoor Leader Skills Training, BALOO (Saturday only), New Leader Essentials, Leader Specific Training. Call Danny Williams or Gerardo Martinez .

Camping: Camp Fawcett is only open for unit camping on certain dates each month.  Camping dates for Camp Fawcett are listed at the link below . Please contact the Council office if you plan to attend on any weekend. Do not forget to file you tour permits ahead of time.

We need a Camp Director for the Amistad District Fun Day in Uvalde or Eagle Pass. The Camp Director will decide the location. The date is July 19th 2008. August 2, 2008 will be Cub Fun Day in Del Rio. Kat Rawald is the Camp Director. More information will follow.
